Brendan Wood started at Drake in 2013 as a 16 year old school-based apprentice and is now Fabrication Supervisor across Sheds 1 and 2. He planned to finish his apprenticeship and chase money in the mines, and instead worked his way up through the floor, into a leading hand role and into the job his old supervisor once held. His advice to anyone considering an apprenticeship is blunt and worth hearing: go one hundred percent, a good company will look after you, don't be scared of messing up, take it on the chin and know it for next time.
